Shoppi is built on technology we developed ourselves, purpose-built for connecting independent merchants with buyers under one marketplace. This page describes it in plain terms. The underlying implementation — source code, architecture and know-how — is proprietary and protected as a trade secret and by copyright; nothing on this page is a license to use, copy, or reverse-engineer it.

A fair split between direct and marketplace sales

Merchants on Shoppi can sell two ways: through their own storefront, or through discovery on the Shoppi marketplace itself. Our payment settlement system tells these apart automatically for every order, and routes the money accordingly — a merchant's own-store sales settle directly to them, while marketplace sales are collected by Shoppi and the merchant's share is transferred to them net of the marketplace fee. This happens per order, automatically, without merchants needing to reconcile anything by hand.

SmartFeed™

Your Shoppi home screen isn't a static catalog — it's a feed, personalized to the merchants and pages you follow. SmartFeed pulls together new products, posts and updates from everyone you follow into a single scrollable feed, the same way a social app would, so discovering what's new from your favorite local shops doesn't require checking each one individually. SmartFeed has been part of Shoppi's product since at least November 2019.

Passport

Shoppi is built around local shopping — merchants near you, delivery from your city. Passport lets you switch which city or market you're shopping in, so if you're traveling, you can browse and buy from merchants local to wherever you are, the same way you would at home, instead of being limited to your home market.

One platform, in-store and online

Shoppi connects physical, in-person checkout — card readers running through our Point-of-Sale apps — to the same cloud account as a merchant's online store. A sale at the counter and a sale on the web update the same inventory and the same order history in real time, from the same infrastructure.

Every merchant, one memorable link

Every merchant on Shoppi gets a short, shareable storefront address (shoppi.app/yourshop) backed by the same multi-tenant platform that runs the entire marketplace — one piece of infrastructure serving every merchant's independent storefront.

Shoppi Cloud

The content and commerce engine that powers every merchant page — including our TagCode templating system — is described from a merchant's perspective on Shoppi Cloud's platform page.
